How to replace an image in a PDF

Select a supported PDF image, inspect its placement and proportions, and review a replacement without changing the original file.

Check that the image is selectable

Open a copy of your PDF and select the image tool. A picture on the page may be a supported image object, a complex clipped object, or part of one large scanned page. The editor exposes supported objects and identifies cases it cannot safely edit. It does not reconstruct a scanned page into separate text and pictures.

Choose the replacement

Use a PNG or JPEG that you have permission to use. Compare its proportions with the existing picture before replacing it. A portrait photograph placed into a wide landscape area may need a different crop or size. The available image properties let you inspect placement and dimensions; check the result instead of assuming the new image will match the old composition.

Inspect nearby content

Zoom in to check the image edges, then zoom out to inspect the page. Look for covered captions, stretched proportions, unexpected rotation and alignment changes. Undo the replacement if it is not the change you intended. Replacing a logo does not verify who issued a document or establish its authenticity.

Keep a route back

Retain your original file outside the browser session. Applied manual edits autosave to this browser for local recovery; clearing site data or losing the device can remove drafts. Cloud recovery is unavailable. The current commercial trial displays a Powered by SnippyPDF watermark; paid clean exports have not launched. When export is available, download a new file and reopen it to check the image before sharing it.
