PDFs are not all built alike. The manual editor and Guarded prototype have different boundaries—choose the workflow that fits your file.

Manual editor

Existing text and image edits on supported content. The editor identifies editable objects and explains view-only or unsupported content.

  • Up to 25 MiB and 100 pages within existing complexity limits.
  • Original-font handling where the font can encode your wording; unsupported glyphs are refused.
  • Supported image placement and adjustment, zoom, undo/redo and export.
  • Some complex fonts, graphics, clipping or nested content are view-only.
  • Encrypted, digitally signed and active-action PDFs are refused. Visible scan text needs OCR/reconstruction, which is not provided.

Prototype

Guarded Edit

A deliberately narrower initial subset for explicit review and checking.

  • 1–10 pages, up to 20 MiB.
  • Unrotated, zero-origin digital pages with matching MediaBox and CropBox.
  • Straightforward horizontal Tj runs in original standard Type1 fonts, with default spacing.
  • One-line replacements that fit the original advance; no font substitution, shrinking or repositioning.
  • Refuses embedded/subset fonts, rotated layouts, TJ arrays, forms, annotations, tags, clipping and nested Form XObjects.

WHEN A FILE ISN’T A FIT

A refusal is useful
information.

A successful preflight is not a promise that every candidate will pass its checks. Ambiguous extraction, spacing differences or changed pixels can safely block a result. Keep your original and read the specific refusal.

Guarded restrictions do not replace the manual editor’s separate capabilities. Neither workflow offers universal compatibility, OCR, translation, secure redaction or Office conversion.
